He winds up in the town of Purgatory where he meets and befriends Jack Elam. Purgatory is a gold mining town split by two mines, one of them is owned by Harry Morgan. His daughter is played by Suzanne Pleshette (The Bob Newhart Show). Latigo is a gambler and also has a problem with his chest, which he has to confide in the doctor (Dub Taylor) to see if he can find a cure. Since Latigo has been mistaken for Swifty Morgan he decides to play the part to make some big money, at least until the real Swifty (Chuck Connors, The Rifleman) finds out about it, and shows up in Purgatory looking for the imposter. This is not a sequal to "Support Your Local Sheriff", but follows as another great western. |
