This web site is dedicated to my son Mark, who died in an automobile accident on July 12, 1998 in Deer Park, LI. NY at the age of 16. (Newsday article) By creating this web site, my goal is to give my family, myself as well as friends the resources to express our feelings for him. He touched so many lives and was loved by all. He was born on December 31st, 1981 in Queens, New York, son of Mario and Nohora Aliaga. Since November 23th, 1983, he was raised in Deer Park, Long Island, New York, along with his brothers Alan and Kevin. Mark was a quiet and shy boy, in his free time he would prefer to play video games, listen to music or watch TV and occasionally he would venture out to be with his closed friends. On September 3rd, 1998, he would have started his senior year at the Deer Park High School and planned to continue his education in a local college. Mark was actively involved in the Marching Band since 4th grade where he played his favorite instrument, the drums. In 1995 he was a member of the DPHS junior Lacrosse team. In 1997 he become a member of the Deer Park Junior Fire department, where he was fond of the fire trucks. On days when he did not have any activity, he worked at a local McDonalds where he was loved and respected for being an excellent worker, a kind friend and a pleasure to be around with. On Sunday, July 12, 1998 around 12:45 AM, after a joyful day celebrating his mother parents' 50th weeding anniversary, he and his best friend went out for a ride in the town. He would not return home, he died at 12:54 AM few blocks from his home. On Wednesday, July 15, 1998, he was lay to rest at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Although he was a quiet and shy boy, his funeral was emotional, ironically, a moment where a parent could feel proud of his son. The high school class mates, his brother's friends and family members gave him the final farewell. The DP High School Marching Band gave him the farewell by playing Amazing Grace at The DP Saint Cyril & Methodius Church mass (see letter). And throughout his final destination the DP firefighters and the Junior firefighters (see letter). gave him an honors farewell (see picture).Although he was quiet and shy he touched so many lives his kindness, love for others and the unselfishness was shown in his farewell. The outpouring of all the people in this beautiful community, our families and friends made us feel proud that we had raise a wonderful boy. We will thankful and grateful to all (see scholarship).Back to MEMORIAL |
