George Washington ACKLEY⁴ was born on 28 Sep 1823 in Lindley's Mill, Washington , Pennsylvania.^{1,4,14,40,42,45,46,79} Between 1850 and 1880 he was Farmer at Lodi, Athens , Ohio.^40,42,45 He was living between 1850 and 1880 in Lodi, Athens , Ohio.^40,42,45,46 He died on 22 Jun 1892 in Athens , Ohio.⁴ He was buried in Pratt's Fork Cemetery, Athens , Ohio.⁴ He appeared in the census 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880 in Ohio. Jehu acquired about 140 acres of land from the Ohio Company, located in Section 19 of Lodi Township. Forty acres of the Jehu farm were transferred to George sometime before 1848 probably in 1847 when George married.

She was a first cousin, once removed, of Jemima and Sarah Rush. Jemima married George's uncle, Joshua Ackley and Sarah married George's brother Samuel Ackley. Jemima and Sarah were sisters.
All three Rush girls descended from John Rush Sr., who was Dr. Benjamin Rush's gg grandfather.
Sarah and Jemima were third cousins, three times removed, to Dr. Benjamin Rush and Elizabeth was a fourth cousin, four times removed. They also had the same relationship to General James Irvine, son of Mary Rush And George Irvine.
George originally had a log cabin which was moved about 300 yards and converted to a larger frame home. For a time his brother John, two years younger, resided with him on the farm. By 1905 the farm was 189 acres and jointly owned by George and John. The farm currently (1992) is owned by Mary Eunice (Doane) Ackley, widow of Willard Ackley, George's grandson.
