"Creating Paint Shop Pro Web Graphics"by Andy ShafranThis was the second book shipped with Paint Shop Pro 5 and it caught my eye because it's very colorful. I really did know most of the stuff in this book, but I still learned a bit. There's an interesting section about file types and the part on creating seamless backgrounds is a must for anyone creating web graphics. You need to pay for color, though -- this book has a pretty hefty price tag ($45), but if you can get it cheaper, it's well worth reading."What You Need to Know About Ritalin"by James Shaya, M.D., James Windell and Holly Shreve GilbertThe title of this book is misleading. Only a very small section of the book is actually about Ritalin -- the main subject is ADHD in general. Though there was nothing "new" or "revealing" in this book (to me), I did find it to be a good source of general information about ADHD and its treatment. The information in the book was taken from a number of other sources, including well-known medical journals and books and articles by renouned experts in the field of ADHD. This is an excellent resource for anyone looking for an up-to-date reference book on ADHD. "The Hyperactive Child, Adolescent and Adult"by Paul H. Wender, Ph.D.Although slightly out of date, this book presents the history of ADHD research from its very beginnings up to the late 1980s (when the book was published), as well as suggestions for dealing with the ADHD child. Written for parents, this book is clear and easy to read. I found the section on ADHD in adults particularly interesting. |
