Hall is an English name that means one who dwells in or near the
manor house, in or near a stone house, or dweller at the rock or
stone boundary marker.
1. WILLIAM HALL was born about 1790 and died after 1860. (he is shown as 58 in the 1850 census and 74 in the 1860 census). His place of birth is listed in various census records as Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina (Maryland appears to be the best guess). A William Hall is found as early as 1810 in the tax list for Jackson Co., Georgia. William Hall is listed in the
1820 census for neighboring Clarke Co., GA. There are three
William Halls in the 1830 census for Jackson Co., GA and two in
the 1840 census.
William married 9 Oct 1814 in Clarke Co., Georgia to Delilah Wheeler. She was born about 1800 in Virginia and died after 1860.

3. PHILLIP S. HALL (William1) son of William Hall and Delilah Wheeler, born about 1832 in Georgia. In 1860 his father was living with Phillip and his mother and two sisters were living next door. Also an Elvira Payne age 24 born in Ala. was living there in 1860. Phillip was a private in Co. B 31st Miss Infantry during the War Between the States. He enlisted 26 Apr 1862 in Choctaw Co., Mississippi.
The 1880 census shows a grandson, John T. Hall in the
household. His father was born in MS and his mother in
Arkansas. He was probably a son of George or John F. Hall.
Phillip married Paralee Matilda McKnight, daughter of William and Ceryan (Sarah Ann ?) McKnight of South Carolina. Paralee was born about 1835 in Alabama (the 1860 census shows her
birth place as Georgia.)

5. PHILLIP P. HALL (Phillip2, William1) son of Phillip S. Hall and Paralee Matilda McKinght, born Sep 1862 in Mississippi.
Phillip married first 28 Nov 1883 in Tallahatchie Co.,
Mississippi to Della R. Ashmore, daughter of Ellot Doak Ashmore
and Nancy Louisa Allen. She was born Feb 1867 in Mississippi
and died about 1907.

6. LEE JACKSON HALL (Phillip3, Phillip2, William1) son of Phillip P. Hall and Della Ashmore, born Sep 1893 and died 14 Jan 1926 in Jackson, Mississippi.
Lee married 14 Aug 1915 in Tallahatchie Co., MS to Nellie Irene Mauldin, daughter of John Richard Mauldin and Loudie Blanchett. She was born 1 Mar 1901 in Ruleville, Sunflower Co.,
Mississippi, died 26 Nov 1950 in Anguilla, Sharkey Co., MS and
is buried in Belzoni, Humphries Co., MS. Lee and Nellie lived
in the Mauldin house until Lee got sick. Nellie married second
to David Andrew Gallaspy.
