Amaretto is a lovely brown patched tabby girl. She is the daughter of CFA GRC Mainekat's Bud Lite of Angtini and CFA GRC Mewsicoons Daffodil of Angtini, DM. (She is also Ovid's granddaughter.) Amaretto is a big, flashy girl with deep color and excellent size and bone (she weighed a lean 15 pounds at one year old). We love her expression and her terrific square muzzle, as well as her nicely set and furnished ears. She also has an affectionate and playful personality. Her show career was short but sweet. She was doing extremely well, but she was nervous at shows and when we saw that she was not getting more comfortable with them, we stopped showing her. It was unfortunate--at her first show at four months old she was best of breed in her first ring! And then, as an Open (her first show as an adult) she won Best of Breed in a group of Maine Coons that included two Grand Champion males that were Regional Winners, and was also finaled as third Best Cat in show. We are certain she would have become a Grand Champion, but we did not want to stress her by continuing to show her when she was not enjoying it.
Amaretto had one beautiful litter of babies sired by GRC, GRP, RW Avicats Orlando Furioso. She was a great mom and the kittens were beautiful. The litter included CFA CH Avicats Alessandra Benucci, CFA CH Avicats Beatrice Portinari, and CFA PR Avicats Marco Polo. We made the difficult decision to spay Amaretto because she wanted to be an "only cat," and not to have to share with our other kitties! She now lives in a loving home as the "queen" of the house, and the only kitty in residence. Amaretto's hips were x-rayed and are good (Nov. '02), and her heart was ultrasounded by a cardiologist and is excellent (Dec. '02). Thank you to Linda Komar of Angtini Cattery for this wonderful girl, although we did not get to keep her as long as we would have liked!
