The LOOP on the October 8th Show:
"The fall show will be in Harrisburg Area, Oct 8 (Columbus Day weekend)
Sunday, at 1pm. It will be a full standards show. I expect a world
class judge (Roxanne Fitzgerald) to be here as one of the training
judges. She flies all over the world judging rodents. We can learn a
lot about mice from her. In addition, Marlene will be judging some of
the mice.
We expect to have a mouse race (courtesy of Jackie Oppelt), pizza at
dinnertime, judge training, socializing and (NEW) a photo category for
those of you who can't make it. We will try again to take electronic
snapshots of all the winners and other mice to send to everyone .
(Camera was not working right for the spring show)
You must photo your animals with their standing on a $1.00 to show
relative size, but other than that (bearing in mind that the clearest
photos will probably look the best) there are no rules. This will have
nothing to do with the cuteness of the photo. Try to send at least two
of each mouse, a top shot and a side shot, but you could add a face shot
and others. Be sure to put the mouse's name on the back, and yours,
too. Electronic snapshots will be accepted by email, but I warn you ,
the will need to be printed out by my printer, which will not do them
justice.
If you won a trophy at an earlier show, it would be a nice gesture to
sponsor ($8) one for this show.
There will be a registration fee of $2 for all attendees, whether they
show mice or not. Entering mice will cost $1 for each mouse. Pizza
slices are $1, again, be sure to sign up as you come in for them.
Kathy Tanguay has again donated some darling raffle prizes. She surfs
the net and bids on mouse things and sends them to me. All of you
should feel free to do the same, or bring a donation. Some of the
donations will be auctioned in a silent auction, also.
There is no limit on how many mice you can enter, but you must have
adequate show boxes to show them. Show boxes can be those plastic
carrying cases (not the smallest ones) that you buy at the pet shops or
Maxie Cages that you make yourself. They should be painted Yellow or
English green. Plans for Maxie Cages can be gotten from me (send $1)
Plan to provide water bottles of some kind for animals in show cages.
Good quality show mice will be available in limited quantities, so
reserve the ones you want now. Mo mice will be sold at the show, they
will be given, swapped, whatever. One of the membership perks is that
members give members mice.
At least three members have said they are coming, so there is no chance
of cancellation of this show. Please email me if you are planning to
come, so I can make plans. Consult your standards booklets for the
categories of mice you can enter. Do email me with any queries or
questions. Lets make this a nice day. Wanda"
