A viewpoint over the Queensland rainforest's canopy from midway through the world's longest tram railway.
A visit to the Tjapukai Cultural Park gave us a great introduction to Aboriginal life.
Forging into the rainforest on a WW II era amphibious military vehicle called the Army Ducks.
Possibly our best meal of the trip was had at the Point Restaurant outside Melbourne. The new Australian cooking featured a delicious presentation of kangaroo as well as local fish and lamb.
Celeste poses with Eddie at the Point.
The girls had a great time exploring Melbourne's beautiful Fitzroy Gardens, where we also saw a children's fairie show and toured Captain James Cook's childhood cottage, moved brick by brick from England.
Okay, we admit this illicity-taken photo is hard to make out, but take our word for it, those are dozens of tiny "fairy" penguins marching past us from the ocean to the burrows up the beach.
Chloe and Celeste, and their friend Alyssa, pet a dingo in the Sydney Koala Park.
Petting a wombat, one of Australia's many strange animals.
The Koala Park's hundreds of acres are home to dozens of these cuddly creatures.
