BONNIE BRIEFS: I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and raised in Ludlow, Massachusetts. In 1987 I graduated from Wilbraham & Monson Academy and then went on to Northeastern University in Boston. In 1992 I graduated from N.U. with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Upon graduating from college I went right to work as a reporter for Turley Publications in Palmer, Massachusetts. I worked as a full-time reporter for several of the company's weekly newspapers. In July 1993 I was promoted to editor of the Ludlow Register, the weekly newspaper for a town of about 18,000.
Then in December 1994, Carmine and I packed up and moved to Oregon, where Carmine took a job with Tektronix in Wilsonville, Oregon. After a long search for a job, I landed with the Northwest Labor Press as its production editor. I was responsible for putting out about 13 monthly newsletters for local union halls and the Portland Police Association's monthly Rap Sheet, a tabloid-sized newspaper sent to Portland Police Association members.
In June 1998, I began working as the community services assistant for Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City. I help create hospital newsletters and plan hospital functions for the Community Services Department of the community hospital.
I am a member of the Portland Macintosh User Group and a volunteer for its monthly magazine, Mouse Tracks. I help as a contributor and production assistant for the club magazine.
On May 19, 1996, Carmine and I traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii to take our wedding vows at sunset on the grounds of the beautiful Hilton Waikoloa Village -- the same day as Carmine's 27th birthday. It was a beautiful ceremony and fantastic honeymoon. Be sure to check out our online wedding album.
A lot has happened since moving to Sherwood, Oregon in December 1994 from Massachusetts. I have been very busy traveling and exploring new places with Carmine, but unfortunately most of my family and friends live on the East Coast so communicating all my new experiences is either difficult or expensive. I hope this web site will enable all of my family and friends to stay in touch with me at their convenience.
