Facts About truckers
On this page I want to discuss some of the facts about trucking . The American Trucker is the hardest working and the most under paid respected person their is.
The industry as a whole is the safest and BEST trained in the world but when a trucker is involved in a accident rather it is his fault or not he gets a ticket . The ticket is allot more than the same ticket for a passenger vehicle. When a car cuts us off or merges in alittle close then slams on their brakes and we hit them it is our fault because we didn't maintain control of our vehicle again let me tell you we only have 10 brakes on a 80,000 pound vehicle if we are moving 35 miles an hour and you merge in front of us and then just stop You have caused an accident but you wont receive a ticket we do.
One reason is we will most likely just pay the fine if it where you getting the ticket you would request a trail we don't have that option because who knows when we will be back in that city and we cant request where we go so that is basically impossible.
Another fact that I want to share is just because we look nasty or unshaven we are basically very nice folks and we don't always have time to shower and shave every day why because every one wants their freight then and don't relay care if a driver is clean or not. But you all need every thing we have to haul from food to clothes to paper to alcohol,tocd' to tapes basicly everything you have a trucker brought it to the whare house so you could have it and rent it, or dream about it. Even you house (the material they used) was brought to them by a trucker.
Truckers are a strange breed of people they live in there truck for weeks or months on end stay away from their loved ones to make sure the country has every thimg it needs to continue to run smothly. Some truckers live in their truck there entire lives in the truck (owner operators) .Why because they love what they do and seeing every one they are helping.
The trucker also has a very soft hart we have a program called the trucker buddie program what that is is a program where elamenrty school strudents to send and recive post card from a trucker that they "adope" from a list of truckers that are involved. What they do is send postcards from different states and contriestelling them usful information such as the captial, state tree , bird,flower,and the population the biggest city to the smallest town.so you see the trucker is not just a pice of trash of just a person that cant hold down a job they are very educated , with a very high work standard.Who else do you know that will work 70 plus hours aweek and make only789 dollars aweek and enjoy it. When they go home after 4 wqeeks on the road they only recive 4 days off how many of you reading this will work 70 hours for four weeks and being away from your kids and husband or wife then only recive 4 days off the average person work 50 hours aweek with 2 days off but the trucker has to work 70 hours plus leave his family and only get 1 day off per week. You think you had it rough didnt you.
