THIS IS REAL What I saw: As I watched the penguin go around to each person, I was overcome with anxiety as it stopped at Jeffrey Eng. I was aware that he had been upset during the retreat, but I wasn't prepared for what was to come. Jeffrey started crying before he could open his mouth to speak out his testimony. His crying got worse and he attempted to sputter out words of his testimonial. He told everyone that that he was worthless and that he felt he wasn't good enough in the eyes of all his friends and family. Jeffrey kept saying that he never did anything for anybody but we never gave up on him and he couldn't understand why God was still allowing him to live on this earth. When Jeffrey finally finished, people started to emotionally crack. Slowly but surely, others became affected and people left and right started crying just as hard as Jeffrey. Soon things got out of hand and Joseph, Thomas and counselors stepped in to get everything and everyone more organized. We got into a bunch of small groups, held hand and prayed. A few college students went up to the front and prayed and sang some inspirational songs. What I felt: I felt extremely sad to see someone I had grown up with, lose all hope and express it so intensely. I also felt exhilarated that Jeffrey had been the spark that lit the fire. If it hadn't been for him, God wouldn't have been able to REALLY get the message of "Unity" across to the Teens Group. I was in awe of the fact that what we had been talking about for the past two days, actually happened. Who I interacted with: Joy P., Julie F., Karen L., Stephanie C., and Vinny. I also went around to hug people and provide some comforts. I felt the urge to go up to Jeffrey and do my BEST to tell him he was loved. I acted on my instincts and ran up to him to show him and to let him know I cared. I hugged Julie, Easten, Maria and Young. I shook hands with and got to meet Matt N. (the teens group retreat co-ordinator).
