We chose our rings with great thought. When we were engaged in August of 1999 it took us a month to pick the perfect date. Every date we came up with seemed to conflict with children's plans, parent's plans, and other obligations. When we hit upon July 13th it seemed fated. Pat's birthday is July 9th, mine is the 14th, and my father's would have been the 10th. To make it even more special, I would be seven years breast cancer free on July 7th. When I went to visit Denver for the first time in October, Pat placed an engagement ring on my finger, a deep red ruby with a diamond on either side. Ruby is the birthstone for July, which was becomming a very significant month for us. To complete my set is a wedding band which is a guard of diamonds that surround the ruby. Both of us have Irish blood in our veins. To celebrate our "Irishness" we wanted a ring of Celtic design for Patrick. After much searching Pat found a design called Waterford Knot that he was most fond of. We had the goldsmith make it for him. Celtic designs symbolize eternal love. Now is where we should show you a picture of our hands entwined with our rings showing, but that picture won't be taken until we're both living together in Denver next month. Here are some pictures of us during the ring portion of the wedding ceremony. (Champagne & Cake) (First Dance) (Bride & Groom) (Family & Friends) (Maggie's Heaven)
