PET PAGE!
Welcome to my Pet Page! I've always loved animals and I've always had pets -- right now I have 2 dogs and 3 cats, but in the past I've had everything from hamsters and fish to chickens, ducks and geese! First a little bit about my furry friends:
MITZI THE CALICO CAT
Mitzi is the pet we've had here the longest. On July 13th of this year she will turn 13 years old! The way we acquired Mitzi the cat, was I had a friend, Jane, who had a Seal Point Siamese cat who she had bred. Jane called me and offered me one of the kittens for free because she wanted to make sure they got good homes. I told her we wanted another cat, but we had our hearts set on a calico with white, orange, and black and we wanted this cat to be shorthaired (my son wanted a cat) and that we were not interested in a Siamese.
Well when the kittens were born Jane called me and told me to come and pick up my kitten! It seems that her cat had 3 kittens, 2 of which were Siamese and 1 was a short-haired Calico! I guess the mother cat made one to order for us! She owns my oldest son and they are just alike in their personalities! Mitzi is very smart and loves to lick Nacho Cheese Doritos! Mitzi got PG at age 5 months before we were able to have her spayed and she had six kittens! We found all of them good homes and my big sister Julie took the orange kitten who she named, "Junior" and who got to be a huge fellow!
SADIE
Sadie is a female dog who is 1/2 Irish Setter and 1/2 black Lab. Sadie will be 12 years old on October 7, 1998. I got Sadie when she was about 10 months old. I was missing my dog, Chopper, who had recently died and I was doing one of my favorite things, RUMMAGE SALEING! At this one yard sale I stopped at, this little black dog who was the minature version of my Chopper dog came running out to see me. I of course, started petting her and the lady from the sale came over and said, "You know, my husband is going to shoot her next week if I don't find a home for her." Well, it seems this was a runt left-over puppy who lived out back in the shed and who they just couldn't find a home for.
They sure saw me coming! Home she went with me! Sadie is very sweet and thinks she is a cat. The only way in which she acts like a dog is that she doesn't quite know how to meow and it still sounds like barking! Sadie is getting gray around her muzzle and I'm embarrassed to say that she is quite overweight. I am putting her on a new diet of Iam's pet food for Seniors and I hope that helps!
NEW KITTY
New Kitty is a cat of course and yes, that is her name NEW KITTY. We figure that New Kitty was about 3 years old when we got her (five years ago) and I had to "pick" a birthday for her, so I picked the day she picked us - she will be 8 years old on April 24, 1998.
One day almost 5 years ago, we had just come home from grocery shopping and were carrying in the groceries, so we had the door propped open. In came this cat and nobody even noticed her. Later on my husband noticed a strange cat eating out of the dog's dish! We looked at her and she had big bald spots all over and she was bleeding from one ear. She crawled away and slept for 2 days and we ended up bringing her to the vet to get her checked over.
The Vet wanted to make a file up for her and asked us what her name was. We replied that she was a stray and we were not going to keep her, so the Vet just wrote "NEW KITTY" on the folder and..........yes, you guessed it! We still have her and her name is NEW KITTY. New Kitty seems to be my cat. She is very very cuddly. She is a long haired black and orange cat - very elegant. Whenever I sit and watch TV, she is in my lap! There is nothing like a warm cat on your lap on a cold winter's evening! New Kitty loves to ride in the car up to the cabin and she also likes to sit on the dock and boat.
MAXWELL
Maxwell is my big yellow-haired, smelly, shedding dog. (You can see his picture on my picture page.) He is 1/2 Cheaspeake and 1/2 Golden Retreiver. Maxwell will be 4 years old on March 25, 1998. One day when I wasn't thinking too clearly, I saw an ad in our local paper for FREE PUPPIES!
I stupidly asked my youngest son if he wanted to go and "just look at the puppies". Well we went, and there were 3 rust colored puppies and one yellow puppy who came right over to us and sat on our feet. He was so darn cute and cuddley! He was just a couple of months old! Well home he came with us!
Maxwell grew up to be 135 pounds of slobbering shedding hyperness! We have always had our pets live in the house with us and Max is no exception but he sheds more than any dog I've ever owned or saw! Summer and winter! Max loves to swim more than anything and has webbed feet! When we swim with him, he always tries to "save" us! He's very smart and we didn't have to housebreak him - he just naturally went outside!
Max is a "talker" and talks to us all of the time in a kind of yowling voice and he opens and shuts his mouth so it really does sound like talking!!! I got Max so that I would have to get exercise and walk him every day which I did religiously at first, but lately I have slacked off! We always talk about getting rid of him, but I guess that's all it is ---- is just talk! Maybe I will try shaving him this summer! LOL
THOR
Thor is a cat also. He is a very sophisticated looking gray and white med. haired cat who will be 2 years old this summer. We also got Thor at a rummage sale up North while we were on vacation. My youngest son's cat had died (11 years old) and when we went to this sale, they had kittens you know, and well, my son picked out his Thor (god of thunder)!
Thor is our only Tom, he is too smart for his own good too! He decided that Maxwell should be "his" dog and adopted him. They sleep together, eat together and when we are holding Thor and Max comes in the room and lays down, Thor goes running over to him! Thor also prefers dog food to cat food!
I cut the above pic out of a magazine ad years ago -- liked it too much to throw it out! It's kind of wrinkled, but I still like it! Hee Hee!!!!
Say hello to my new kitty!!!! She is a virtual kitty that I adopted on February 21, 1998. Her name is "CYBERCAT" and she is really cool!!! Cybercat thinks that she is queen of this page -- and you know, I think she is!!!! It's a good thing that she hasn't figured out how to get out of this old 'puter because she would surely cross claws with Mitzi Kitty!!!
Cybercat loves to mess with my cyber goldfish "Goldie"
To make matters even worse!!!! Sometimes old tazzer comes in and bothers both Goldie and Cybercat!!!!!!!! I'm so afraid taz is going to eat that goldfish!!! I know fish is good for your diet taz.... but GEEZ! YIKES!
