The embroidered heart design is from the Australian magazine Embroidery & Cross Stitch. All of the embroidery is done with one strand of DMC floss. The pink flowers are done with a 12 over satin stitch, the blue with a pistil stitch, and the purple flowers are two bullion stitches.

The purple roses are bullion stitches done with a single strand variegated cotton thread by Caron. The leaves are done with the fishbone stitch using DMC flower thread.
The rickrack idea was sent to me by Nancy Allen. A straight stitch tacks down the rickrack and forms the flower stem. Two beads are stacked for the flower and the leaf is a lazy daisy.

I took a Brazilian embroidery class about 15 years ago. After doing a couple of pillows, I put it away thinking I'd never use it again. I'm glad I didn't throw it out because I use the threads and techniques quite a bit on my crazy quilt blocks.
This flower is made up of two long bullion stitches and three pistil stitches. I used a variegated Brazilian thread called Lola.
