Youth trip to Montana
In August of 1996 I experienced something that cannot be described in words,
something that one would have to experience for themselves to see what the true
beauty of nature actually is. A group of 24 people left my church's parking lot
and headed to McLeod, Montana and Camp Christikon. We spent the three days of travel
relaxing our bodies because we would be spending five days in the mountains with
no showers, bathrooms, or decent food. We'd be carrying all of our clothes and
other necessities on our backs. The packs weighed about 35lbs.
While in the mountains we saw many animals. We saw a moose eating it's supper
and had to be careful so it wouldn't charge at us. We hiked to elevations of
10,000 feet and you could see for miles! The clouds seemed so close, and I felt
as though I could stretch out my arms and touch God's. All at once my whole group
stretched out our arms and shouted, "Glory to God in the highest!" Now that was
cool!
Luckily, we saw no bears though coyotes decided to visit our campsite one evening.
After five days, my body was ready to head home, but my mind wasn't. The mountains
were so beautiful!

This is Lake Kasey, named after one of our tour guides. The view from the tops of
the mountains was incredible!!! The mountains that you see far in the distance were
the mountains we had been standing on only 2 days B4 this picture was taken. (not
the farthest one's back but the middle ones)

This is Silver Lake. We camped here for two nights. The water was extremely cold and
fish were constantly jumping. A little creek entered into the lake. You could see
the bottom of the lake wherever you looked. The water was so clean and clear!
