Wilda, as she was known, married at age 15. She and Fred
bought a big piece of land in Hardisty, Alberta.
After 20 years, my grandfather Fred left to live
the town life, but my grandmother stayed on the ranch with
over 400 head of cattle and 20 of her beloved horses. She
ran the show and raised her sons alone until her death at
the age of 82. Her granddaughter Christ Dunning wrote,
``She was as strong, opinionated and soft-hearted a woman as I have ever known.''
