Her first name is given as Frances in the censuses as an adult (1910-1930) and the 1918 draft record of her son Carlton names her Frances Jane, but Jennie is given as her name in the 1880 census.

Robert worked in the Carroll Sentinel office for a number of years. His last name was spelled Hamell in published Boone Co. marriage records, but Hamill everywhere else (newspapers, census). Robert's parents were Patrick Hamell and Charlotte Laughlin.
