Shortly after 1853, Sophronia taught the South English school. It was held in the log cabin home of Mercy Fasold. ``Aunt Mercy'' would take her baby and stay at the neighbors during school hours. For this she got her fuel and tuition for her three children.

After the death of Sophronia, her children Albert, Ella, and Emma are listed with their grandfather TQ Matthews in the 1870 census in S. English.

We guessed that Sophronia is possibly buried in South English. There is just one lot between Ruth Scott and Louisa Black, but in the Cemetery Index, that in-between lot is called ``Cook's plot''.
