Josephine Elizabeth Lawler -- b. 6 Mar 1913, Iowa; d. 25 Jan 1914 De Witt Twp,Clinton Co.,Iowa of whooping cough; bur. Petersville,Clinton Co.,Iowa at Immaculate Conception
In the 1885 Iowa census, Daniel is with his parents, Daniel and Mary,
and a John Lawler, age 5, born Black Hawk Co., Iowa.
The 5 year old John turns out to be the son of Daniel's brother Peter
and Peter's deceased first wife.
After Daniel and Sarah were married, they left on the train for
an extended trip through the western US, which was to include Denver,
Salt Lake, San Francisco and ``the exposition at Portland, Ore.''.
I believe the exposition mentioned was the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition
since the time frame is about right. (Otherwise, I don't have a year
on the newspaper article describing their wedding.)
They weren't planning to return home to De Witt until December 1st
In 1925,
Daniel and Sarah Lawler owned 160 acres in Section 12
of Welton Twp and 130 acres in
Washington Township.
on Sections 12, 1, and 11.
In 1937, Daniel's farm is listed as 3 miles West of Welton, address of
RR3, Charlotte.
