William and ``Catharyne'' owned 160 acres in section 36 of Jackson Twp according to a 1920 farmers directory. William and his brother Joe were also farming 80 acres rented from their sister Gertrude in Section 25.
William had gone to Omaha to have his tonsils removed about two weeks before his death. While there he contracted pneumonia which caused his death.
Katherine was the daughter of Thomas Sullivan by his first wife. Thomas Sullivan's second wife was Mary Lawler of the other Lawler branch, the daughter of Daniel Lalor and Annie Dunn. In the 1900 census, Katie Sullivan, age 8, is listed as a boarder with William's cousin Mary (Kealy) O'Donnell and her husband John O'Donnell.
After William died, Katherine remarried to Maurice Breen and was living in Omaha in 1951 when her father died. Maurice Breen (b. Abt 1877, Iowa) had been married previously and had several children by that marriage. Maurice and Katherine are in the 1930 census in Carroll, Iowa with two of Maurice's children.
