The story of the wives and children of James Ezra Pierson is
a little unusual. Here's how it came about according to a
granddaughter, Pam Terrell:
He married Gracie Hendricks and they had a daughter Pansy.
James and Gracie divorced and he married Sarah Elizabeth Braley
and had two children, Wilford and James Hugh. Then they
divorced and he married Eva DeBolt and Frank was born in 1911.
Then James divorced Eva and re-married Sarah Elizabeth Braley.
There are family stories that Grace Hendricks and Pansy lived a few
houses down from James Ezra and Sarah Elizabeth (after they married)
and that it was James' wishes. There are also stories that
James tried to take Frank from his mother when Frank was a small
child. Sarah's daughter Mildred said that she believed Sarah
re-married my James so that he wouldn't take James Hugh away from her.
Pam Terrell also said, ``I believe my grandfather really loved
his children - maybe much more so than his wives! He died before I
was born so I never knew him, but his children and his grandchildren
who knew him thought the world of him.''
