10/16/07- Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this homepage. Seems like such a great thing to keep up, with all the family changes and growth that happen. Please see the old entries link below for a summary of 2006. This year has been a good one so far (hard to believe we're in the waning stages already). I don't really have time to summarize, but I think the trip to Greece with Ivy's parents at the beginning of summer (will post photos next time) has got to be the highlight, and it has had some carryover at home (more Greek salads, a revisiting of old mythologies, etc). We have really enjoyed our first year at the tennis club in the neighborhood; Kaya has learned to swim, and Ren is now pretty much officially a seal! I have had fun playing tennis on a team again, after many years absence. Ivy, the kids and I along with Mom went to see Sara and Paul in Florida, which was fortunate, because they have since moved back to Seattle (yay!). It has been really great to have the 4 kids get together again, and just to have that family connection here in the city. We had a pretty mellow rest of summer, Mariner's games, days at the club swimming, a few day hikes and a weekend campout at Eight Mile Lake with Jerry, Grandpa, Anna, Kaya and Ren (it was really cute watching them try to catch fish together). We've enjoyed a few trips back to Wenatchee (Grant's graduation, Sara's birthday, Nancy's visit), and the kids have really loved spending more time with Grandma (graham cracker, as Kaya says). We finally got around to buying a minivan, which I resisted for a long time, but now finally understand the reasoning for (it really is nice having the extra room and flexibility). But now we are into Fall, and it is like a switch was turned on! Ivy is busy with school and Science Fair planning (she is the chairperson for the entire program this year), along with her business and work. She had a fun weekend getaway to Vegas with her high school friends. The kids are suddenly uber-busy (3rd grade, preschool, judo, japanese school, dance classes, etc), and I have the usual busy work schedule. The leaves are falling, we had our annual trip to Remlinger Farms (see photos below), and a Fall hike to pick berries with Granpa on Granite Mountain. Coming right up is our traditional trip to Camp Orkila (our last as father and son, sadly)! Looking forward to Thanksgiving in Wenatchee, and a good ski season coming up soon (Kaya should be able to start lessons this year). Have a great Fall, and look forward to hearing from you all soon. Love, Eric
