| Why I admire Ed Dickerson |
| Websters 1928 Dictionary defines "hero" as: 1. A man of distinguished valor, intrepidity or enterprise in danger; as a hero in arms. 2. A great, illustrious or extraordinary person; as a hero in learning. [Little used.] |
Speaking on a personal level, Ed speaks with such passion and understanding as anyone I have ever had the delight of discussiong homeschool issues with. He is a fountain of knowledge, and never demanding, but rather--captivating. His is a voice of reason in all the insanity. Refreshing, real, and down-to-earth--Ed delivers insight, understanding, real solutions, and hope for homeschooling families. It is unusual for someone to find someone else they agree with at almost every turn, but Ed is definately one of those people for me. (However--he always phrases things so much better than I do! haha) Ed speaks his mind, and isn't afraid to tell you the truth about things, which truly is refreshing even if some people find it hard to handle. I have seen more than one person become flustered with responses Ed has given them. Sometimes things they haven't wanted to hear--sometimes things they HAD to hear. But once they realized the heart that Ed said them with, the fact that his sole purpose and goal was to give them a greater insight into their children, and to better support their family foundation--without question the people would suddenly understand, and be thankful for Ed's concern and help. I have never seen Ed say anything outside of love, compassion, and understanding, even when it's something people don't want to hear at the time.
Since I began my homeschooling journey with my children, I have grown so much, learned so much, and become a better Mommy and teacher. I give part of the credit to the knowledge and insight that Ed gave to me, often even when he didn't even know he was doing it! I am sure his is an often thankless job, however, I offer my deepest thanks to him! He is truly one of my homeschooling heroes! I hope he becomes one of yours as well! |
