Day Camp/Raingutter Regatta

At the last meeting of Benjamin's Cub Scout pack is the Raingutter Regatta. The boys make a small wooden boat and then race it by puffing it down a raingutter. Benjamin did most of the work on the boat, shaping, painting and puffing. Benjamin won a race or two.

Three weeks after the Raingutter Regatta, many boys in the pack spent a week at a day camp. The theme of the camp was 2001: A Space Odessy. Their tribe was called the Fringon (rhymes with Klingons). They're under a tree here waiting to see some model rockets be shot into they sky.

Here are the Fringons and their fearless leader. I walked with them and led them in songs that only little boys could love. During the week, they went fishing shot BBs, archery, made model rockets, learned about nature, put on a skit and even cooked small pizzas for themselves in a cardboard box. Oh the things you learn in scouts.
