Not a Cair-n the world!

Pooped Pup

My Chia Pet, 2002

Wylie was rescued from a local Animal Shelter in October of 1998.   The above photo was taken a few days after he settled in at his new house.    He seems to be quite content here!
The Vet says that Wylie is a Cairn Terrier (mix).  Wylie claims his papa was a "travelin' man."  A Dachshund perhaps.  Wylie's back is 14 inches long and his body structure is similar to that of a Dachshund.  He has all the rodent killing instincts of the Terrier.  He caught a mouse on Christmas Day, 1999.  We (my mother and I) were out walking Wylie along the river trail.   He was so disappointed that "grandma" took off running down the trail when he came up from snuffling through a pile of leaves with a mouse in his mouth!   What a show-off. . .
Wylie is good company for my Persian cat, Taz.  They are best buddies since the cat is pretty spunky.  (The cat is named Taz for a very good reason -- he's a little devil when he has to be boarded.)
So far Wylie's only fault is wanting to be free.   Rather difficult when living in an area with leash laws and no fenced yards!   He has "run away" twice.  The first time was because he didn't want a pack of German Shepherds sharing his walk with him.  He twisted his head out of his collar and took off barking like crazy.  This is at 4:00 in the morning!  Must have been a pretty strange site.  Me chasing a little dog that was chasing three big dogs.   Those "big" dogs were ki-yi-yipping away from that little monster!
The second time he took off was my fault.  My pets had to be boarded for a couple days while I was out of town.  Wylie did not approve of that at all.  As soon as he was home and the car door opened, he was out of the car in a flash -- headed for the River Park Trail.  Fortunately, he didn't fit under the gate.   We have an understanding now.  I'm the boss and he doesn't go outside unless his leash is on and I'm ready to go!  (Right?!)

A sweater.  How humiliating!

"A lot of good that sweater did when it was 8 degrees.  Think I'll get warm under this nice quilt."
"Well, it's all her fault.  She left the pillow and quilt on the couch.  Think I'll just close my eyes for a minute."

"You know, I could sleep better if she would stop taking stupid pictures!"
Sorry about the poor quality on last three photos.  I had not learned how to use a Mavica when they were taken.   The top few were taken with a Ricoh.

Ah, home at last.
Wonder why humans call traveling around the country a vacation?
