Harsh Realm is coming to DVD! Five years after the initial US airing, fans around the world will now be able to experience this fantastic, and unfortunately short-lived series. Adverts for the UK release have been included in many magazines (see image to the left from the UK's Total Film magazine - click for larger version), made all the more exciting as Harsh Realm has never been broadcast on UK television!

The UK (Region 2 DVD) release arrives in stores a month before the US (Region 1) release, with each set featuring different package designs. You can view details of the US release at Amazon.com, and the UK/Europe release at Amazon.co.uk.

Further to June's update on Life As We Know It, starting from September 23rd the show will air in the US on Thursdays at 9pm on ABC!

The latest exciting news is that the previously titled TV pilot "Doing It" has been picked up by ABC, and is due to begin airing in the US in September! The show has been retitled "Life as We Know It", and among others will co-star Kelly Osbourne. A publicity shot from the show can be seen on the left (click to enlarge).

I have read good buzz about this show on the internet (especially since it comes from the writers of the fantastic series Freaks and Geeks). You can keep updated on the show's details by visiting TV Tome.

Unfortunately there is still no planned wide release for Speak (you can see the 1-sheet and still photographs from the film's time at Sundance here). However rumour has it the film may air on US network Showtime this summer, or receive a theatrical release in the summer of 2005.

On a final note I should point out I have updated my email address. Receiving almost 1000 spam emails in four days stretches was becoming quite taxing to deal with, so I have been forced to create a new account. From now on please contact me at dbsweeney_online@**REMOVE THIS TEXT**yahoo.com. In order to help beat the 'spambots' I also need to corrupt my email address so it can't be picked up automatically. When emailing me, please remove the tag to reveal my full address. Drastic, I realise, but it's the only way I know to try and beat the spammers!

UPDATE: 3PM GMT: Brother Bear has received an Academy Award nomination in the Animated Feature category. Congratulations!

Hopefully many of you will have now seen Brother Bear over the Christmas period, the film continues to open over the world through March. The current US box office for the film is $84,270,653 which is an impressive figure.

On January 17th DB played in the Starlight Children's Foundation 'Stars with Sticks' celebrity Hockey game. DB was joined by other stars such as Kiefer Sutherland, Michael Vartan, Neal McDonough, and Joshua Jackson. Photos of DB at the event can be found at: http://www.katrosephotography.com/sports2.html. Make sure to have a look through all of the photos as there are some great action shots!

On January 25th DB also took part in SuperSkate VI charity hockey event benefiting the Rangers Cheering For Children and Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation charities at Madison Square Garden. Images from the event can be viewed at the Getty Images site.

In other news, DB's latest film Speak was screened during the Sundance Film Festival, and received some good reviews. You can see some images of DB taken at Sundance, both in portrait and with members of the cast by going to Getty.

The main news at the moment is that Disney's Brother Bear opens this Friday (1st November) in the US and will make its way across the world from the beginning of December. DB provides the voice of Sitka in the film.

The official Disney website is now online at http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/brotherbear/main.html. It's quite a cute site (love the Canadian moose), and has some nice downloads on it too.

You can also view more clips and features on Brother Bear at Yahoo! Movies: http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1808409320&intl=us.

You will be glad to hear that DB's SCORE jersey auction was a great success! The winning bid was placed at $310 - an excellent amount for a worthy cause. Congratulations to the winner!

Finally, thanks goes to Tess for finding an archived interview with DB for the home video release of Dinosaur. The interview was with Sidewalks Entertainment. You can view the interview by going to http://swetv.com/webclips/s.html and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

I have been informed that there is a autographed game-worn hockey jersey available to bid on at Ebay. DB wore this jersey at the SCORE celebrity hockey game in August this year.

You can bid on the item here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2755918962All. Bidding begins at US $70.

The proceeds of this auction go to SCORE, a non-profit that helps people with paralysis. You can learn more about SCORE here: http://www.scorefund.org. Good luck bidding!

I have great news today in the form of an update from DB himself! DB kindly sent me an email to update me on what he's been up to lately.

He is due to begin shooting a new film called Speak next week. He is also continuing with voiceover work - he has recently begun doing the narration for Unsolved Mysteries, and continues to be the voice of Bud Lite and Lincoln cars. Aside from these new projects, DB has spent most of his time writing scripts. He has recently finished one script, and has started work on another. Naturally if you see any articles on these new projects it would be great to hear from you!.

Thanks again goes to DB for keeping us updated.

Thanks goes to Tess for finding this review of Under Milk Wood. The article features an image of DB during the performance.

August 06 2003
Thank you goes to 'Azzro' for finding a new interview with DB from the North Adams Transcript. It covers his time spent in Williamstown and the play Under Milk Wood. Read the interview.

A huge thank you goes to Wendi for informing me of DB's upcoming appearance in SCORE's Third Annual Celebrity Hockey Game. SCORE is the Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment charity. The game will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17th from 4:30-7:30 pm in El Segunda, CA at the Health South Arena. Other celebrities due to play include Keanu Reeves, Michael Vartan and David Boreanaz.

If you live near the area tickets are only $20 for general admission, or $95 for VIP admission. You can purchase tickets and find more information here: http://www.scorefund.org/hockey2003.htm.

If you do attend be sure to send along any photographs or stories from the event!

Robin has also informed me DB was featured in a National Public Radio interview last Thursday morning. If anyone happened to record this interview, and can provide details I would be very grateful!

A big thank you goes to Robin who has informed me DB is currently performing in the play Under Milk Wood (by Dylan Thomas) at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Apparently he is one of the play's narrators (along with Dana Ivey). If you live near the area, you need to be quick however as the play closes on August 3rd. You can find out more about the play and how to book tickets here: http://www.wtfestival.org/home.php.

On the 5th anniversay of this site being online I finally got back to making some updates. I have updated the Bio and Films pages, as well as making some corrections to the FAQ and Contact pages. I have been told by some fans that letters being sent to the previously successful ICM address are now being returned. Hopefully a search on the internet should hopefully find a new address, but please be patient in the meantime (or if you know of the new address please let me know).

I have also begun to update the Media section. It will take a while to get all of the images I have on there, but hopefully not too long!

Other news is that DB is part of the cast of Disney's new animated movie Brother Bear. DB will voice the character Sitka alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Rick Moranis and Michael Clarke Duncan. The synopsis of Brother Bear is as follows: "Long ago, as the Earth was emerging from the Ice Age, there were three brothers. After a bear takes the life of the oldest brother, impulsive youngest brother Kenai kills the bear in revenge, only to be transformed into a bear himself. Denami, the middle brother, comes upon this bear and, thinking it killed Kenai, vows revenge. Now brother hunts brother and Kenai's only hope for survival is to befriend his own worst enemy, a grizzly cub named Koda. Koda main goal is to show Kenai the real meaning of brotherhood." The trailer for the film can be viewed here: Yahoo! Movies. I haven't yet been able to view the trailer to see if you can hear DB's voice. I should be able to view it tomorrow however, and will report what I find.

Finally, I would like to lay to rest the internet rumour that DB appears in X-Men. Fans had believed he played the policeman who waves Magneto's boat into the harbour (and then killed by Sabretooth). This however has been proved incorrect by Bryan Singer. During the audio commentary on the X-Men 1.5 DVD, Bryan states this man is called Brian Jensen (the stunt co-ordinator's son). Unfortunately, the IMDB currently lists DB as 'Police Officer' as it is well-known although the site is a great source of information, little of it is 100% confirmed (it is often kept updated by fans).

November 4th 2002
Thanks to a post on the Forum I have found out that DB is currently performing in 'Farenheit 451' at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank, California. He will be playing the lead role of Montag. The play runs until November 24th. For more information and booking details please visit http://www.falcontheatre.com.

I realise I'm going to sound like a broken record, but I am genuinely sorry I haven't been able to keep this site up to date as much as I used to. Believe me, I long for the days when I had time to update almost every day! I've been through some major career and life changes which have prevented me from getting to this site as much as I'd like but I still do check in every day to see what's being said on the forums.

I'm really going to try and get back into the swing of things - over the almost 4 and a half years I've been running this site I really don't want to see it all go to waste!

March 29th 2002
The first and latest news of the year is that Superfire is finally due to be aired on Saturday 20th April at 9pm (check local listings) on ABC.

On a personal note, I apologise for the lack of updates over the past few months. I don't have as much time as I used to when I first started this site (almost 4 years ago), but I do intend to get back on track with keeping it updated.
