The memories of my Mom are still fresh in my mind,
I can still hear her voice, and see her smiling face.
I think of her all the time, my beautiful mom,
I love her and miss her, and will never forget her...
time will never take from me these precious thoughts and past memories.
Mom was a very strong women, she was the one that kept the family together, the leader of the pack. She gave birth to 5 children, and loved each of us with all of her heart.
Cancer took her from us at age 45, she fought very hard, but toward the end she could not fight anymore... she died on July 18, 1978.
Mom was born into this world on June 7, 1933.
She was adopted, and never new of her natural family, for years she tryed to obtain some information, but never did.
In 1993 I wrote to the New York Foundling Hospital(where she was adopted from) and requested any information on my Mom, being that Mom was decease, they opened her file and this is what they sent to me....
In response to your request for information regarding your mother's birth parents, I regret to inform you that she was a foundling, and we have no knowledge of her heritage. Your mother was found at 1:20 p.m. on 6-25-33 in the hallway of a building on 1st ave. in Manhattan NY. She was wearing a white cotton shirt, 2 white shirts, a white dress with blue trimming, blue jacket, white stockings, white and pink booties, and white cap. A note said "Child born June 7, 1933. Three weeks old. Can't take it. May come back for baby some day. Could feed it on bottle." Your mother was admitted to The New York Foundling Hospital, she was baptized in the chapel on 9-5-33, she was in four foster homes before joining the Ronzinos on 4-22-36. Her adoption was finalized on 12-22-43.
My Mom never new she was a foundling, I believe it would have broke her heart to know of this, as it did mine....
If someone reading this knows of this story, please email me, I believe that my Mom does have a family out there, and I hope one day to find them.
~Age 5~
Mom had a good childhood, her adoptive parents(the Ronzinos) were very good to her. She was very close to her Dad, I remember her saying that she felt he was her real dad, that they even looked alike...He died when mom was 17.
Mom met my Dad when she was 16(through her father)it was love at first site....
Over time I will be adding more about my moms life...
A poem writen in honor of my mom, by a friend who is a very talented poet.
Thank you so much Laura.
Walk with me down paths you tried to have I still need your presence beside me, Your spirit lingers in my mind, And your words of wisdom ring in my ears, Like a mirror I reflect your light, The way you carried me through a lifetime, Laura Josselyn |
