THE PLOT
The movie starts in a bar/cafe where Chris Dubois, now an old man, tells the bartender, after atking on three punks who tried to rob the bar, about his great journey back in 1925. Now, 1925, a taste of to come. We see some fighters, who will compete later in the movie, doing their thing inside the ring. Then we come across Chris, a faithful leader to a band of homelesss New York children, trying to make some money as a clown. Chris, now creating a diversion, gives his kid friends an opportunity to steal a bag of money from a wealthy and crooked businessman. Now, Chris is forced to run for his life when the owner of the bag of maney comes busting in and shooting everywhere. After a confrontation, a kid gets shot. Afraid the cops will blame him, Chris jumps a ship heading out of the country. But, a couple of days into the voyage, the ship is attacked by Edgar Dobbs and his crew. Chris, hops aboard Dobbs' ship which is headed to Muay Thai Island. Chris gets tricked into staying at Muay Thai Island thinking a ship back to America is due, but what Chris doesn't know is Dobbs actually sold him to a friend of Dobbs' on Muay Thai Island, Mr. Khao. Now Chris will work for Khao. Shit happens. SIX MONTHS LATER...
Dubois, being trained in the ways of the Muay Thai warrior, runs into Dobbs at a Muay Thai tournament and demands his help on his next journey: "The best fighters will meet to compete in secret for a big dragon made of solid gold." But there is one catch, to get into the tournament, you have to have a special invitation. So, Dobbs and Chris pretend to be Maxie Devine's, an invited fighter to the tournament in the lost city and the U.S.A. Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the world, personal valet. The plan is while Maxie is busy fighting, Dobbs and Chris are devising ways and means of stealing the dragon. It doesn't happen like that. Maxie finds out about there plan and get in a scrap with Chris who kicks his ass. Maxie then gives Chris the invitation and rides away in the sunset. Chris poses as "Maxie Devine" at the tournament, but Maxie comes back to set the record straight. He surrenders his championship to Chris, but the superiors at the tournament aren't happy with what they've done, so he gives Chris an ultimatum: If Chris doesn't win his first fight, Maxie can never leave the lost city. **gulp** Talk about pressure. But don't worry, he wins the fight. Over the course of the fight, the fighter from Siam, also Mr. Khao's fighter and Chris' friend, is killed and Dobbs is caught trying to steal the dragon. The price for such a crime is death. But Chris pays for there freedom. He makes a deal with the superiors at the tournament that if he wins the tournament, Dobbs goes free and they can keep the dragon. Now, Chris is not only fighting for no dragon, but he's also fighting for Dobbs' life. **whew** Now that's pressure. But you rest assured, Chris wins the tournament, gets Dobbs set free, goes back to America and gets the kis off the street. In the end, everyone did just fine. A great ending to a great movie.. Jean-Claude does a hell of a job in his directorial debut.
