HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS

A moderately gory sequel to the much maligned "Halloween III: Season of the Witch", "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" brings back its landmark villain Michael Myers (who kind of looks like Data without eyes, from Star Trek: The Next Generation). Nothing new is really presented in this movie, and some parts are pretty lame, such as the electrocution scene, Loomis getting a ride from a crazed reverend (who fortunately does not appear again for the whole movie), and those beer-guzzling hicks accidentally shooting the wrong people. The premise of a supernatural serial killer stalking a little girl has promise, and they explore it well enough for the first 10 minutes or so. Unfortunately, this idea gets diluted for the rest of the movie since Myers pretty much kills everyone in his path like he does in "Halloween II". All in all, a fairly derivative--and often hokey--slasher flick.

OVERALL RATING

5 out of 12

** NOTE: The more dots, the higher the rating. A dozen dots mean that the movie is a masterpiece while one or no dots mean you'll have much more fun burying it in the backyard than actually watching it. **
