Siamese

Origin:

Eventhough the Siamese breed has existed for many centuries , there is much disagreement as to their true origin. The most probable theory is that Siamese had it's origins somewhere in Southeast Asia. This theory is further reinforced by the similarities between Siamese and the cats of that region ( long headed and kinked tails). It was said that Siamese breed originated in Thailand ( formerly known as Siam ) more than 200 years before this breed was imported into Britain in 1886.

Appearance:

When born they are all nearly white and the points will only darken as they get older. The distinctive Siamese has a light body with darker points ( face, ears, tail, lower legs and paws ). Siamese tends to be darker in a cool environment or when they get older ( due to poor circulation ).Eventhough the Siamese originally came in one colour, that is, deep brownish black, however the modern Siamese can be found in a wide variety of pointed colours. Not only that, the modern Siamese is elegant, with a long head tapering to a fine muzzle and strikingly large ears.

Characteristics:

Siamese kittens develop early. They have individual personalities soon after birth and are precocious. Not to mention their great leaping ability and its loud voice. Siamese cats love people and don't be surprised if it can carry on a running conversation with its owner !! Due to it's terrific personality and affectionate nature, the Siamese has a large following among people from all places, ages and backgrounds.
