Well, the year is off to a good start I suppose. We'll see though. Should be an interesting summer, what with the most expensive movie ever made Pearl Harbor, and the sequel to The Mummy squaring off. Let's journey together shall we?

What an awful year for film. It seems like Hollywood has dredged up the absolute worst films this year. Of course, the independent scene is still viable, BUT, it’s getting thin. My only 5 Star film this year is Requiem for a Dream, and that’s such a harrowing film, that I can’t recommend it to everyone.

Not a bad year for film, but not a great one either. Standouts included American Beauty (the Best Picture Oscar Winner) and Cider House Rules (my personal favorite of the year). It was also the year we saw the final Stanley Kubrick piece.

No 5 Star films this year, and only a few 4 star films. It wasn’t a good year, but it was better than 2000. Sad really. Also, this was the year of the two "asteroid" flicks. Yuck.

It was the year of Titannic. Too bad too, because LA Confidential was a MUCH better film. Lots of deserving films in 1997, and I think I saw them all. I went to more movies in 1997 than all of 1999 and 2000 COMBINED! Scary.

1996 Films
Quality films in ABUNDANCE in 1996. Branagh’s 4 hour Hamlet, Romeo + Juliet and Twelth Night bring the Bard back into popularity. All that, and John Sayles’ masterpiece Lone Star, the finest film made in the last 20 years. YEAH!
