Loryn's 11 Cents - FYI

Please, God, let him live.In the fourth season, we learned that Tim has a bad back. What exactly was his problem? He stated in "Sniper, Pt.1" he had a deteriorating disc in his lower back. One of the treatment options he was given was a laminectomy. This is a surgical procedure to remove that disc. In the lower back, it's done by making a cut in the back, removing a small amount of bone covering the disc & removing part of the disc material. This will leave a scar & require a period of rest & probably of physical therapy. As Teej was quit to point out, some surgical outcomes could be paralysis & death.

He was my partner, man. I should've known. Our beloved Crosetti took his own life at the beginning of Season 3. If you're like me, you were totally unprepared for it. Below are some suicide warning signs.

  1. Withdrawl - Steve took off for that Atlantic City trip & never came back.
  2. Moodiness - Steve had that case of the 5-year-old Joey Winston whose own mother Rena hanged him. After that, he had his mood swings.
  3. Life Crisis/Trauma
  4. Personality Change
  5. Threat
  6. Gift-Giving - Before he left for Atlantic City, Steve tried to give Lewis his most cherished possession - his Duncan Imperial yo-yo.
  7. Depression - Since that child hanging case, Steve was in a big funk.
  8. Aggression

What I think and why you're scared are two separate things. The squad's best investigator suffered a stroke in his inner sanctum during the Ian McKenzie interrogation. For more information on strokes, please go to Mediconsult's stroke page. One side effect of the drugs he had to take was impotence. To celebrate his tenth anniversary the way he wanted, he stopped taking Losartan for 24 hours. He has made a remarkable recovery. To see what Scienceweb thinks about the truthfulness of Frank's stroke on screen, please go to Scieneweb's page. As he likes to say, it's good to be good but it's better to be lucky!

She's still alive?Remember during Birthday when Lewis asked at the scene whether the rape victim Grace Rivera made a statement? That statement (if she'd in fact made one) is called a dying declaration and is admissible in court under Maryland law.

Under normal circumstances, no one can testify as to what anyone other than the defendant said to him or within his hearing; this is so because the law assumes that the person who said it is physically able to testify to it in court. The one exception is the dying declaration, and the rules defining it are pretty specific:

  1. The person making the dying declaration MUST know he's dying.
  2. The person MUST actually die.

In that instance, what would otherwise be considered hearsay testimony (and be therefore inadmissible) becomes admissible. The law assumes that the dying victim has no reason to lie.

Search everything! An officer searching a crime scene does not need a search warrant if someone who has control over the area is willing to sign a consent-to-search form. If no one is willing or legally able to sign one, then a search warrant is essential.
