I understand
that what I'm going to write could make someone jealous, but I'm also sure
that there are a lot of people who will love to know a little more of Jim's
life and personality.
Well,
I got the wonderful opportunity to attend the Venice Film Festival,
and to spend a whole day very close to whom I believe is the best actor
in the world.
Still
now, I just can't realize how happened what happened!
Jim
Carrey arrived in Venice on the 5th of September, together with The
Truman Show's director, Peter Weir, and the actors Laura Linney, Noah
Emmerich and Natascha McElhone.
I arrived
in Venice on the 5th morning too. I didn't know when Jim's plane exactly
would land at the Venice airport, and as the weather was absolutely horrible,
windy and stormy, after more than eight hours spent driving from Naples,
where I live, to Venice, I decided to look for an hotel and have a rest.
Then I went to Mestre to buy the ticket for The Truman Show premiere
that was on the day after.
On
the 6th morning, I read on a local newspaper that some paparazzi tried
to photograph Jim when he arrived at the airport, and that thing made him
very very upset.
Anyway,
I will remember the 6th of September 1998 as my day in the life of the
most famous rubber faced actor in the world, the most incredible, the most
indescribable, the most unbelievable, the most unforgettable day of my
life.
I woke
up very early that morning, I took a ferry boat to reach the Lido and,
during the trip, I noticed that a man sit beside me had a photo pass for
the Film Festival fixed to his T-shirt, so I approached and
asked him about Jim. He told me that Jim had arrived the day before, but
he was expected at about 10.30 a.m. at Lido's Excelsior hotel, where
the press and the photographers used to meet movie stars.
I believed
him and decided to go outside the Excelsior hotel.
Jim
arrived at about 11, together with Linda, his secretary, and probably (I
haven't had the chance to see any photos of her, so I don't know her) together
with his hairdresser, Paulina.
People
could see Jim arriving in the small harbour of the hotel from a terrace
located outside the hotel, on the street. Instead,
photographers could wait for Jim just where he arrived with the boat.
