After
the press conference, I tried to follow Jim, when he posed together with
Peter Weir for some photos on the terrace of the hotel.
Even
in this occasion, some security guards tried to send me away, but the Paramount's
representative told them: "She really loves him!", and she let me stayed
in the terrace where Jim was.
In
this case, I noticed that he was very very humble as he wanted to pose
with the other actors of The Truman Show, but the photographers
wanted him alone. So he started joking with his face. He always smiled.
After
his photo session, I rushed up to him again and I asked him to autograph
a pic. As there were a lot of people, fans and photographers, who couldn't
attend to the photo session and wanted to photograph him, I was pushed
and pressed and so Jim. Jim was very worried, in fact he told me it was
safer not to stop to sign the autograph: "We'll both got crushed!", he
said. Anyway, as I insisted, Jim wasn't able to say no and at least he
signed my photo. You can't imagine how kind he is.
I was
conscious to be a pest, but I couldn't help myself doing what I was doing!
I was and I'm still sure that it was the first and last time I could have
met him. I wanted to show him how much I loved him. I also would have told
him how much he did for me. I mean, I have been through two terrible years
and my only times of distraction and relief were when I saw his films and
his funny interviews.
Anyway,
coming back to Venice...His busy day wasn't already finished. In fact,
he had to be interviewed by reporters.
