The
most interviews were located on a balcony that looked on to the beach and
there a lot of young Jim's fans started calling his name. He appeared at
the balcony and the scene was pretty funny because as the fans couldn't
reach him, they threw him papers, magazines and notebooks. Jim kept all
the stuff and signed it, then he threw it back. It was fun because some
notebooks thrown by fans really hit him, so he delighted his audience with
his inimitable funny faces.
Before
he left the Excelsior hotel to come back to the hotel where he stayed,
the Cipriani hotel, on the Giudecca isle, he had to pose again for
a Polaroid photo session. Then he chose the photo that had to be hung on
the wall of the Palazzo del Cinema (Palace of the Cinema) during
the projection of The Truman Show.
It
was out of place to follow him at the hotel. He already was too gentle
and sweet with me.
Anyway
I went to the premiere. All the actors had to walk on a catwalk to get
in the Palazzo del Cinema.
At
about 0.15 a.m., Jim arrived at the premiere hand in hand together with
Linda. He was so beautiful, dressed in a blue suit.
I'm
sorry I was able to take just one photo in this occasion, because there
was a terrible mess. Jim spent a lot of time waving and shaking hands of
all the people who stayed in line behind the barriers near the catwalk.
He was the only actor to do that. And I'm talking not about the other actors
of The Truman Show, but all the other actors who attended at the
Film Festival. Even this time, as I was - useless to say - in the
first row, Jim waved me and shook my hand.
That
was absolutely my lucky day!
