I've been in school for ages now... It seems like forever, going to cosmetology college, then 5 years at the University. I am forced to read many books and text books that are usually not that interesting to me; well, not for leisure.

However, I do read books at home on my spare time. Some of my favourite authors are:

John Grisham:

He used to be a lawyer and his fictions are based on lawyers, courtrooms, murderers, death penalties, and anything law-related. The first book I read was The Firm, which later was made into a movie starring Tom Cruise. Like most chances after a books is turned into an onscreen film, the original book, itself, is much better. I found the print and Grisham's writing style quite easy to read and understand, as this was why I can actually finish a book. His later books all were eventually made into movies.
Some of his other books that I have enjoyed reading are:

  • A Time to Kill: Very disturbing book about a young black girl being raped in a small town by two white men. They go to trial and the jurors are a white in majority, and seem to side with the rapists… It's basically about racial discrimination and justice.
  • The Pelican Brief: A young female legal student witnesses a murder. She prepares a legal brief and attempts to investigate further into this. Eventually, a murder is intended for her.
  • The Client: Two brothers witness a murder-suicide and one of the young boys knows where the body is buried. Prosecutors are willing to do anything to make the boy talk, even kicking his single mom and brother out from their trailer home. A rookie woman lawyer tries to help her client stay sane and alive.
  • The Chamber: A young Chicago lawyer is trying to make it to the top of the executive ladder with a prominent firm, and finds out that he was to defend a death row inmate for a fatal bombing, and a former Klansman, who also happens to be his grandfather. Family lies, deception, shame, secrets, and moral choices are key issues in this book.

I also like books written by Michael Creighton, who is a doctor and bases his writing on medical and science fiction issues.
Jurassic Park, The Sphere, Lost World are a few of his works that I have read.

    Also:
I like reading fashion and entertainment magazines as well. Most of the time I browse through pictures to get ideas, and pictures of dresses or outfits that I really like, and then get them designed for myself. I like to keep updated on what celebrities and models are up to and what they wear. Recently (2001), I have been reading J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books! I really enjoy children's literature! I just need more time to read her books!
