Currently Karen resides in California and Canada. Karen was born in a small coal-mining town in British Columbia, Canada. She grew up an active child in a large family, and participated in several sports activities throughout her teenage years, including skiing, volleyball, track and field events, where she won many scholarships and awards. Like typical teens, she also enjoyed going to concerts and watching a large amount of MuchMusic (Canadian MTV); in fact, she was the regular 80's pop teeny-bopper fanatic! Besides other hours spent on volunteer work and schooling, she studied the piano which included a few recitals to her credit. It was during this time of her youth where she pursued whatever she could, having a ravishing appetite for excitement and experience. She attempted modeling and dancing - some of the things that helped her realize her ambition to become an entertainer. After a quick relocation to Canada, Karen went on to become a certified hairstylist and make-up artist through courses in college. She had learned of her passion for beauty pageants, which she had often contended in, that allowed her to travel to different cities and gain experience in the business. There was even acting done as an extra in local TV shows/commercials/movies. Karen has a BA degree. She continues to work in pageants and the entertainment industry.
If you didn't think she could do anymore, she also 'babysat' the 'author' of this mini-biography. (It was a-many horrid years of pitiless exposure to New Kids On The Block and some bad food…)
It is such a vibrant city with diverse cultures and sights. The TV and film industry is booming in this city. The X-Files and 21 Jump Street used to be filmed here. I like to come here on long weekends to visit family and friends. Shopping on Robson Street is great, and I think we need some h2o stores in Alberta! Recently (Nov 2002) my brother won a contest to be an EXTRA on the teen TV series, Edgemont that is filmed in Vancouver. I have cool friends here who take me shopping everywhere!
Another fabulous Canadian city that has endless night life! Home of (MTV) Much Music, and Canadian arts and theatre. The modeling and fashion industry here is quite strong here for Canada! Awesome Universities and Colleges in the surrounding vicinities. Some of you may even get a chance to meet my pageant sister Ronda who was Miss Toronto 98. She is an active volunteer and special guest for many Ontario charity functions and galas! She is also a former Toronto Argonauts and NY Buffalo Jills cheerleader too. Ronda has won many other local, national and international pageant titles.
I love LA in general, the weather, the sights, Hollywood (I will be on the walk of fame one day!), and of course Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm, and Magic Mountain. The beaches are fabulous, my favorites are Newport, Laguana, Venice, and Malibu beach! As for night clubs, you can party and dance 'til dawn!
My home away from home in USA! The Chinese food here is just delicious, it's truly authentic! Another sleepless city, with lots of street people to see (as poverty and homelessness is of great interest to me -- Tenderloin district), typical tourists sights are cool too: Golden Gate Bridge and Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, the Oakland area, and just strolling along Market Street is relaxing. Saks 5th Ave, Nordstrom, Macy's are a few of my favorite stores here! Yes, I can't forget UCAL Berkeley (a great campus), and Stanford are just a few of the top Universities in the USA, the city of Berkeley, Oakland, Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Jose, are places to visit for sure
