Deep Tissue Massage releases chronic (long-term and/or continuous) muscle tension using three basic techniques:
1) slow massage
strokes;
2) direct pressure;
3) friction applied across the grain of the muscles.
These techniqes assist the release of tension at deeper layers of the body than regular (Swedish-style) massage techniques can evoke.
