    -Hi, my name is Sharon and I have an ileostomy as a result of living for 5 years with UC. I have created a chat channel on IRC on Dalnet server called #ostomates. This channel is not only for ostomates but for those suffering with IBD as well. To get to the channel, you need to log on to IRC (Internet Relay Chat) - ie the Chat Channels. Do do this you need to download an IRC client, eg mIRC is the most popular. The URL is http://www.mirc.co.uk.get.html You will need to choose a nickname which is unique to yourself because if you choose a common one, chances are somebody else will have already taken it. Once you've set it up and logged onto mIRC, you then have to select a server, there's a wide choice, eg DalNet, Effnet, etc which will log you on to the chat channels. You will need to select any DalNet server and once you're on there type /join #ostomates in the status bar and that should get you there. As we only created this channel 2 months ago there might not be anyone there when you log in but please keep trying every now and then as we now have approx 14 regulars and i'm sure that as word gets around about it, we will have quite a few more people logging in so spread the word please. Hopefully, in the future, it will be manned around the clock. I am usually on most nights from 6.30pm to 10.30pm weeknights and quite a bit longer than that on weekends. I am in Australia so I don't know what time that is where you are.
