Next to a perfect blue sea, little orange rooftops blend with
the green leaves of aromatic fig trees, and lace tablecloths
flutter in the gentle breeze. A clear glass of rakia sits
comfortably next to a roasted red pepper salad scattered with
crushed garlic, while yogurt and aubergine dips, succulent tomatoes,
creamy cheeses and paprika and freshly grilled fish jostle for
attention... and then, having trekked through several snowy
mountain villages, literally out of this world, with bubbling
icy streams and low, smoking chimneys, it's so good to open the
door of the Mehana, let your glasses steam up - and tumble to
the nearest table, covered with a bright red woven cloth.
Hot stew with wine, thick bean soup, spinach and potato moussaka -
warm and hearty cheer!
