The Sky Series
The shifting skies are some of my favorite subjects. These photos are from a larger, and ever-expanding, collection.
| "River of Clouds"
This photo was taken after a thunderstorm near my former home.

| "Clouds Near Dusk"
This formation shows the layering of the clouds as the sun sets, reflecting from their bottoms. I have done a painting from this picture.

| "Cloud Over a Field"
This bright blue sky contained only this single cloud, moving slowly overhead.

| "Red Sky"
This photo was taken during a tornedo watch, and shows the beautiful but ominous color of the sky. I have also done a painting from this photo.

| "Royal Sunset"
These photos were taken during a particularly beautiful sunset at the university I attended. I loved the extraordinary colors and the brilliant reflections off the clouds.

| "Aurora"
I took this breathtaking photo from my window at the university I attended. It shows the sun peaking up between two hills, with a gorgeous brilliant light streaming over the horizon. I really enjoy the contrast between the bright yellows and the black silhouettes of the hills.
This photograph was published in the university's literary magazine New Growth Arts Review, Vol. 21 in April 2001.

| "Salmon Clouds"
These pastel clouds are catching the last rays of sunlight that had formed a wonderful column fallen down upon the ground.

| "Clouds Over Farmington"
These photos were taken on a breezy summer day in a rural township in northwestern Pennsylvania. The first faces straight up into the clouds with the sun behind them. The second is an interesting perspective piece, facing down a dirt road descending a hill.

| "Ceiling of Clouds"
This photo was taken in the cusp between fall and winter and showcases a bank of billowing, low-hanging clouds. The alternating light and shadow along with the line of streetlights and telephone poles draws the eye far back into the space of the image.

| "Aerial Nebula"
I captured this gorgeous cloud formation on film in the moments before a light summer shower.

| "Sunset between Two Buildings"
The waning hours of the day produced this vivid, colorful scene as light streamed toward me through two buildings.

Houses
| "The Old House"
This old and interesting structure once existed on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, but was torn down to make room for a new parking garage. Progress?

| This house lies outside the town of Barnes, Pennsylvania. I was fascinated by its form, especially the cupola and the trellis directly above the steps.

Miscellaneous Photographs
| "Flowers Downtown"
I photographed these bright, cheerful flowers in the residential district of a small city's downtown area. It has since served as the basis for a painting.

| "The Bridge"
Every day during the summer of 2000, I passsed this interesting bridge on my way to work. It is a small footbridge, surrounded on all sides by trees and bushes (Notice the grapevine hanging along the top of the photograph). The bridge spans a small stream, which feeds into a river a short way down the path. Across the bridge is a large open field. Most days the bridge was chained off with a "No Trespassing" sign, but this particular day, fate was on my side! © 2000 Brandon Weatherby |
| "The Shadow Tree"
Another photograph on the same trail as "The Bridge," one year later. This tree reminded me of the Shadow vessels from the television series Babylon 5. I liked the contrast of bright green behind the dark, tendril-like roots of the tree. You can also view my paintings of Shadow vessels, The Shadow Series.
