BIOGRAPHY
Isaac D. Klaassen, son of D.A. and Aganetha Duerksen Klaassen, was born near Hillsboro, Kansas, on May 19, 1893. It was in this community where he attended schools, grew to manhood, and during his youth came to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He was received into the membership of the Gnadenau Church in 1900, after having found Christ through the words of I John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
We was married on April 12, 1917, to Anna Ediger and our parents spent their entire married life on the farm southeast of Hillsboro. He loved to work and our merciful God acknowledged that willingness to use his hands by providing for our family all our needs, even in the most difficult days of the depression. He not only loved to work, however; he had a love too for flowers and trees and gardening and taught us to love the world God had made. His dedication to Christ and His Church evidenced itself in his frequent reading, both of the Bible and the many stories we as his children heard from him.
Our mother passed away in 1969 and father’s health gradually began to decline. After a lifetime on the farm, he moved into the Sunshine Home in Buhler, where for six years he received the tender and loving care of those who ministered to his spiritual and physical needs. Late Saturday evening, August 30, 1975, he very peacefully passed from this life to be with the One he had loved and served. He had reached the age of 82 years, 3 months and 11 days.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife and one son, Albert as well as two grandchildren and one brother and four sisters. Surviving are five children and their families: Lydia, Mrs. Wilbert Regier and husband, of Buhler; Esther, Mrs. Irvin Schroeder and husband, of Moundridge; John E. and Wilhelmina Klaassen, of Denver Colorado; Arthur L. and Nina Klaassen, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; Harold and Esther Klaassen, of Manhattan, Kansas along with 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erma Klaassen, and nine brothers and sisters: David D. Klaassen, Hillsboro; Herman D. Klaassen, Walton; Dick D. Klaassen, Newton; Arnold D. Klaassen, Newton; Mrs. J.D. Thiessen and Mrs. H.D. Thiessen, both of Inman; Mrs. Eva Brandt, Hays; Mrs. Ed Winter, Hillsboro; Mrs. Art Bell, Marion and many other relatives and friends.
