9th, 1916, as Camp Borden, a training base for the Canadian Expeditionary Force.
CFB Borden now occupies 85 square kilometers, and is Canada's largest training
ground for military classifications and trades, with over 15,000 graduates per
year.
CFB Borden is home to
16 Wing, and is cited as
the "Birthplace of the RCAF." The largest training wing in the Canadian Forces, almost 2000 students are trained every year at 16 Wing. Training ranges from
core aircraft courses such as engine and
airframe maintenance and repairs, to the teaching of
leadership and Air Force history.
16 Wing hosts three major schools: the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace
Technology and Engineering (CFSATE), the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace
Control Operations (CFSACO), and the Air Command Professional Development and
Training Centre (ACPDTC).
One of our exchange Senior NCOs/8T000 is a branch
chief and instructor at ACPDTC, one the CF's PME Schools for enlisted personnel.
