The Chiefs' Story: USS California (CGN-36)

This video was produced by the Navy in 1975 and focuses on the role of the chiefs aboard USS California (CGN-36), a nuclear powered guided missile cruiser.

In the video, California sails from Norfolk, Virginia to the Caribbean with 28 officers and 572 enlisted men. The video explores the numerous roles the chief petty officers play in running the ship. The video details helicopter operations, general quarters drill, gunfire support with the 5-inch gun, and guided missile firing.
