The North American B-25 "Mitchell" was a fast, twin engined medium bomber. This aircraft was used on all fronts, but perhaps its most famous use was the "Doolittle Raid" where 16 B-25s were transported to within 650 miles of the Japanese Home Islands by the aircraft carrier USS HORNET (CV-8) and then flown off her deck to bomb Tokyo on April 18, 1942. The B-25 was a versatile bomber, being used for many missions including bridge busting, ship killing and strategic bombing.
