Bath Time

So little guinea pig of yours is getting kinda dirty? Follow these steps to make sure your GP has a shining clean coat!

  • Fill a small container or sink with luke warm water. Make sure you have plenty of clean towels and a very mild shampoo ready. I suggest a mild cat or dog or guinea pig (if you can find it) shampoo. Remember, DO NOT USE THE SHAMPOO YOU NORMALLY USE.

  • Now, take your guinea pig and take bits of water and spread it all over their coat, so that they can sort of get used to the water. Then place the guinea pig in the water and make sure they are thoroughly wet everywhere but their head.

  • Take the shampoo and lather it into your guinea pigs fur. They should squirm a lot, try and keep control of them. Then rinse the guinea pig thoroughly.

  • Immediately after they are rinsed, take the guinea pig out of the water and wrap it in thick towels, which should be nearby. When the guinea pig shivers, it means it is cold, so change the towel or rap some more aroud them.

  • It shouold take 45-60 mins. for the guinea pigs fur to dry. Also, I suggest that you do not blowdry your guinea pig!

  • Your guinea pigs' coat should be shiny. Brush it with a baby brush so that it looks even prettier. Now, I speak from experience, FEED YOUR GUINEA PIG!
