Only Time Will Tell

Heh heh, about me! Now listen up real good, sonny, you're about to hear one of the most exciting tales around, ya hear? It stars me!! That's what makes it one of the best.

I was born ... uhh ... I'm not sure where but ... somewhere. Heh, I was only a hatchling see, so I can't remember everything about it. And the next time you ever get asked "What do you remember when you were one-second-old just say "I was crying". It's true for most babies, right? So just say that. Now if you're a bird, dog, cat, or animal, I haven't anything good for you to say just yet, so ...

ANYWAY, I had brothers and sisters and a mom and dad. They were a good family ... but then I had to leave them. One by one, my brothers and sisters gradually left. To a place I don't know. Maybe the same place I went. Maybe not. But one day one the guy who raised us took us from our loving family ...*sniff*... and to somewhere else. A big truck actually. And then when it left ... who knows what. They were sold, I know that's true. So, at least they were safe.

Then one day, I was taken to the truck. It was dark too. A couple of other cockatiels went with me. We rode on until finally when we stopped, we were taken into a huge mall. Inside the mall were lots of strange people. I didn't like all those people. People I'd never seen before. But then once inside a pet shop, things quieted down. Until we reached the bird section, where chirps and squawks could make you deaf. It was little canaries and parakeets, flying around their cage. At least they were happy. I was scared.

I was put in a cage with the other two cockatiels who traveled with me. We were all scared, but we fit in well with the other birds. However, I did not like how they put snakes under us, who threatened that if they ever got out, they'd eat us whole! They never did get out though. I spent a few months in that cage. But on the second month, one of the cockatiels was taken. They were sold to a nice family. I wished I could get sold too. Then I would have my own family.

A few weeks later, my other friend left. Now I was all alone. But a few parakeets were there to keep me company. That helped but I still wanted my own family. Then, one bright Sunday, in the heat of the afternoon on August 1, a family walked in and they BOUGHT ME! I couldn't believe it! Finally, someone wanted me!! At first it was scary. I was put in a box with holes in it and after a long drive I was released into a really big cage. To this day, I am pampered, spoiled, and conceited. Yep, I'm Yo-yo the terribly conceited cockatiel as all my signatures in e-mail state. And now I'm very pleased with my new home.

So let this be a lesson to you, sonny. I'm not sure where the lesson is so I'll leave it to you to find that out. And while you're at it, why don't you ...

Hear my manly voice!
