AIDS/HIV

One of today's most awful diseases is AIDS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. A microbe called HIV, Human

Immunodeficiency Virus, infects the body and attacks the immune system; therefore the body can not protect itself

against other microbes. In short words this is when the immune system is disabled by a virus. AIDS is caused by HIV. To be a little more specific this virus attacks the immune system's Helper T-cells resulting in the reduced number of these cells. This makes it more difficult for the body to defend itself. As a result people with HIV are constantly at risk. There are Drugs that slow the path of this fatal disease, but no cure has been found yet :(
