ADMISSION
RIMC-the "Cradle for Excellence",is exquisitely concieved and brilliantly programmed, the college strives to make a man of every boy fortunate enough to enter it's portals. The entire curriculum is geared to mould cadets into future leaders. The 5 year plan of RIMC,is exacting yet exciting in its variety.Activities are Objective-based and precisely timed.
The college is administered by the Union Ministry of Defence through Directorate General of Military Training,Army Headquaters.Being a catagory 'A' establishment of Ministry of Defence, the object of Govt. of India in maintaining the college is to train suitable candidates  for admission to NDA in such a way that they appear in the entrance examination conducted by UPSC for entry into the NDA.However the course of study is such that should a boy fail to gain admission in the NDA,he will be in a position to join a college, professional institution or university on graduating from the RIMC.There are five annual academic levels at the college split into 10 six-monthly levels, from class VIII to class XII which makes RIMC perhaps the only institution in the country where CBSE exams for class X and XII are conducted twice a year, that means it has a total of four Board Examinations every year (May & Nov.). The medium of instruction is English,RIMC also has Physics,Chemistry and Biology labs with latest equipments and experienced staff. The College library has over 15000 books some of them rare and date back to 19th century. The student to teacher ratio at the RIMC is an incredible 10:1. All the teachers are recommended by the UPSC and enjoy the status of Gazetted Central Govt Officers with housing inside the campus.
The academic instruction imparted is designed to prepare the students for the following examinations:-
(a) RIMC Secondary School Examinations at the end of class X conducted by the Army Headquaters. The Central Board Secondary Education,New Delhi recognizes this examination at the end of class X.
(b) RIMC Senior School Certificate Examination at the end of Class XII conducted by the Army Headquarters. The CBSE recognises this as equivalent to its Class XII examination of the 10+2 system of education.
(c) Union Public Service Commission Examination for admisiion to the NDA, for which the minimum educational qualification prescribed is a pass in Class XII or equivalent examination.

All co-curricular activities at the College conplement the core-curriculum. The College provides ample scope for the enrichment of the social and cultural life of the cadets. They provide free play to their natural interest and make education interesting and effective, various activities are organised at different levels at the College. In order to give the cadets an opportunity for self-expression and recreation, as many as twelve clubs and societies are run by the cadets themselves under the guidance of the staff. They are Journalism, Rifle shooting, Music, Art, Current Affairs, Photography, Aeromodelling, Alchemists, Young Newtons, Craft, Horse riding, Golf and Gardening. The school organises regular Debating and quiz competitions. The school has a computer lab with large number of computers and an internet access from the Dehra Dun node of VSNL. Students are free to use these facilities at all times.

Sports constitute a major part in the development of young boys and RIMC provides immense facilities and opportunities to boys to make full use of this facet of training. Virtually all sports and games are played in the RIMC which include Boxing, Football, Hockey & Squash. RIMC has consistently held the top seeds of the country in Squash including the famous alumni Raj Manchanda who was awarded the Arjuna Award. The sprawling 134 acres campus of RIMC affords a lot of games fields , basketball courts and squash courts, apart from a indoor swimming pool, a boxing amphitheatre, and a pavillion.

In the middle of each six month term, the school organises compulsory hike and adventure activities class wise. There are also trips conducted to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mussorie, Nainital, Lansdowne, Rishikesh, Hardwar and others.
