Projects will be evaluated on the following criteria; to avoid guess-work, use this list to help you plan, organize, and write your proposal.

Weekly Conferences

 

Content - 30%
  • The problem is clearly identified.
  • The most important elements are addressed, given the research  problem.
  • Background coverage and related issues are sufficient.
  • The discussion of the research problem is focused and relevant.
  • The content is accurate.
  • The terms and definitions are explained.

Development - 20%

  • The student recognizes the broader field from within which the research problem originates.
  • The student demonstrates an understanding of the importance of the research problem and related issues to Marketing.
  • Transitions from one idea to next are logical as the discussion is developed.

Strategic Elements - 30%

  • The proposal addresses the strategic importance of the research problem.
  • The student identifies the reasons why the research problem is relevant to marketing decision making.
  • The student identifies the importance of the research problem to industry competitiveness.

Organization, Grammar, and Mechanics - 20%

  • The proposal is well structured and organized, addressing the six parts of a typical research proposal.
  • Transition words are used to move between paragraphs.
  • Paragraphs are coherent and sentences are varied.
  • Sentence structure is correct.
  • Verb use is correct.
  • Pronoun use is correct.
  • Modifier use is correct.
  • Word use is correct.
  • Spelling is correct.
  • Punctuation is correct.
  • Directions for the assignment are followed and completed as required.
  • The proposal is submitted on the due date.
  • Background sources are cited correctly and bibliographical format is correct.
